Travelodge London Beckton

Kelvin was brilliant. He took the time to talk with guests and make them feel welcome, and made the stay memorable. The hotel’s in an odd location and a pain to reach in rush hour, but it was perfect for visiting family. My room was a little tired, and the air-conditioning unit was quite noisy.

Irene and Raja were friendly and attentive. The room was nice, and breakfast was delicious. It’s easy to reach central London on the regular buses, and the hotel is very affordable for London. We had a lovely stay.

The hotel refunded the laundry charges and part of the room cost after the bed bugs were confirmed. We had to change rooms three times, and I spent New Year's Eve in the laundrette washing and drying clothes. There was no electricity in the room until it was sorted the following morning, then on the second day the water went off halfway through my shower. The building had no water for several hours, so that was another day wasted.

On April 27 around 3pm, the staff member on duty was rude and dismissive. When I said I’d been treated similarly before, she accused me of lying in front of other guests and said she’d never seen me. It was embarrassing and unacceptable. I asked her name, but she refused to give it. Then I asked for a manager, and was told no manager was available. When I asked to speak to someone senior, my request was ignored. That conduct is far below what I’d expect from a hotel of this size and reputation. Guests should be treated with courtesy, transparency and respect. I’ve stayed at many other Travelodge locations and never had service like this.
