YOTELPAD London Stratford

The room itself was nice, but the broken hob and the way the complaint was handled ruined what was meant to be a special birthday stay. I stayed from the 19th to 21st of May and chose the hotel specifically for the kitchenette with an induction hob. At check-in, we found a large crack in it, and none of the hobs worked. We reported it straight away. The receptionist confirmed it was broken and said he’d come back with a solution. After waiting an hour on WhatsApp, we were told someone would come the following day and that the hotel was “fully booked,” so we couldn’t change rooms. I also had to wait until supposedly 10pm the next day to speak to a supervisor about compensation, which seemed bizarre. No one came to fix it the next day, so we paid for a Premium Studio Plus Pad without the main feature we’d paid extra for. We had to order food and keep chasing updates ourselves. Eventually Delroy, the supervisor, was the first person to apologise. He offered only 15% (£52.50 off a £350 stay). When asked for suggestions, we requested reimbursement for our first-night Deliveroo order because the kitchenette couldn’t be used, but that was refused. Maintenance arrived only as we were checking out. The response, care and compensation were extremely disappointing and didn’t reflect the problem or the lack of care in response to our complaint. I won’t be returning.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful. I booked because the location seemed convenient for flying from Stansted and going to a concert at the O2. But the area felt quite bad, and I didn’t feel safe walking around, especially late in the evening. The shower door is a nuisance, and water can get out of the shower and into the room all day. There was coffee in capsules, but no tea, and our room faced another building.

The room was on the small side, but I still really liked it. It had an adjustable bed, a fridge and a microwave, and the location made it easy to walk to lots of bars and restaurants. One of the best hotels I stayed in on my trip.

The Studio Pad was lovely, and the staff were welcoming and communicated well. It’s well placed for getting to central or east London. For parking, there’s a Morrison car park across the way where you can leave the car for £20. I’d definitely stay again.
