The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the Sunday carvery is well worth trying if you’re around Long Melford. I’ve come here a few times after being away from the UK for a long while. The meat and vegetables are incredible, and there’s a great choice of sauces, including apple, horseradish and mint. I haven’t stayed in the hotel rooms myself, though I’ve heard good things about them.

I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but I regularly stop at the George & Dragon for a pint and something to eat. The food is great, and Riley makes the place. When he’s working, he’s usually the life and soul of it, and I probably wouldn’t keep coming back without him. Cheers!

A quiet, clean pub where you can actually hear yourself think. The young woman serving was friendly, and the food was good quality. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Breakfast was the only good part of our stay, and we only had it once. After our first night, we found another hotel and left, losing £560 with no refund. We’d booked six nights in room 3, which the owner said was one of the best rooms, but our experience was the worst hotel stay we’ve had in 51 years of marriage. There was just one key, so we couldn’t go out separately. The room was dirty, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly, and the shower wall fitting was broken. We had to fill the rubbish bin with water to flush and clean the toilet. Dead flies filled the main light shade. While looking for the TV remote, even behind the bedroom radiator, we found years of dust and dirt, cobwebs and a white sock from a previous guest that had turned grey. The owner said the room would be vacuumed and sorted while we were out, but nothing had been done by that evening. The kettle lid was broken and the towels had holes. I have photos of everything. The owner was rude, insisted everything worked properly and said I didn’t know what I was talking about. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Three of us have been staying here for the past three weeks while working away. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Nothing has been too much trouble.
