We had a lovely Easter lunch, with a great home-cooked taste in a beautiful pub interior. Thanks for such a warm local experience! We were too busy eating to remember to take a photo :)

The carvery worked well for our group of 15, including six kids, with different portion sizes to suit everyone. The food was great and reasonably priced, and the service was friendly and efficient. We booked by phone a week ahead, and they were happy to have us, unlike the other village pubs we tried. Thanks for having us at the Earl of Chatham!

I was in Lostwhitheral for one night to meet family, and we had dinner here. We ordered loaded salt and pepper fries, pot pie, and a cheeseburger, and everything was lovely and well cooked. The pub itself is so nice, and the Landlord was extremely welcoming and helpful. I'll definitely return. I also found the photo in the Ladies toilets amusing. The toilets were very clean and had sanitary items in case you get caught out.

They fitted us in at the last minute, made us feel welcome, and got our tasty food out quickly. Great value for money and a really friendly team. We'd highly recommend it and will be back!

I was having a nice NYE with friends when a bar lady suddenly started throwing people's pints at the walls. A customer got caught in the crossfire and spoke up, even though he wasn't involved. She wrestled his pint out of his hand, and it fell to the floor and smashed. I've never seen anything like that in a rural pub. Everyone left soon afterwards. Avoid.
