The barmaid who served us on our first couple of visits was lovely, welcoming, and chatty. She talked with us about the town, told us how much she enjoys working there, and made us feel at ease straight away. When the pub was quiet, she even showed us a few card tricks. It was a fun personal touch that made those visits memorable. I've been to this pub a few times while on holiday and had a good experience overall. On one later visit, though, a different barman seemed arrogant and short on time for customers. That was a noticeable change. The atmosphere and the barmaid's great service stood out, and we'd happily come back.

A nice, typical pub bar. There was live music at lunchtime, with an easy-listening song and a singer with a pleasant voice. The staff were attentive and friendly. They serve pub food, which looked fine, although I didn't try it.

We were looking for somewhere vegan-friendly and were surprised to be led through the pub to a hidden Indian restaurant at the back. The English pub and Indian restaurant combination seemed a little jarring, so our expectations were high. Happily, the food was excellent. They handled our dietary restrictions without any fuss, since the menu lets you choose a sauce and then a meat, or no meat, with several options available for us. A hidden gem with very friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
