The alpacas were such funny animals, and we loved watching them from the bathroom. Paul took us into the paddock after breakfast and told us about them. They were friendly and didn’t seem bothered by strangers. Paul also knows loads about the local area if you’re looking for ideas on what to do or where to go. We stayed from 30th December to 1st January for my boyfriend’s birthday and our anniversary. I’d called in November to ask if Kathryn could put up balloons and banners as a surprise, and she was more than happy to do it. When we arrived, Paul welcomed us, explained everything, and showed us to our room. We chose the double at the end, with a four-piece en suite and a bathroom overlooking the alpaca field. It was warm, nicely decorated, and really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, especially the homemade bread. We tried a few things from the menu, and I particularly liked the full Northumberland. I asked if I could swap the mushrooms and tomatoes for potato rostis, which I love, and Paul was very accommodating. We definitely had plenty to eat. The second day, he made breakfast for six on his own and still managed great food and service. A really comfortable, welcoming stay. We weren’t ready to leave. Thanks for having us!
