The hotel's exterior is stunning and its location absolutely fabulous. We managed a walk along the River Teme, visited Ludlow Castle and the markets, had Easter Sunday lunch at Ye Olde Bull Ring Tavern, and breakfast at Bill’s Kitchen on Easter Monday. I've written reviews for those too. We only stayed one night, and I would return. Parking was a squeeze, but we did find a space. There's also ample, easier parking at the nearby library. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, so can't comment on it. The Easter Monday receptionist was friendly, informative and lovely. The Easter Sunday receptionist was just okay and could take a leaf out of their colleague's book. The lad at the bar was very good too. Our room was big, airy and quiet. It was a shame there weren't twin beds for our large teenage boys, who had to share a small sofa bed. My husband and I had a huge, comfortable bed, which made me feel a bit guilty. Luckily, there was a little window area where my youngest son settled behind the net curtain, while my older son sat on the bed. There were only two cups, though four would have been better so the boys could have a drink too. The bathroom was lovely and spacious, with two sinks, a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower.

The birthday kindness from the team is what I’ll remember most. They made it feel magical with personal touches that went well beyond what we expected, and we felt more like friends than guests. Taylor was exceptional, as was Henry from management; Tallulah and Riley looked after us beautifully at meals, and everyone we met was lovely. Our junior suite was gorgeous, with a huge bathroom, a lovely bath and a separate double shower. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Feathers, and the food and choice were excellent. Weekend afternoon entertainment added to the atmosphere too. The Feathers Hotel & Restaurant is right in the middle of Ludlow, a short walk from Ludlow Castle. The building is remarkable, dating back to 1619 as Rees Jones’s home and becoming an inn in 1670. Its Grade I listed front, carved with the Prince of Wales’s feathers, is full of character. I’ve stayed in plenty of luxury hotels and stately homes around the UK, but the care here surpassed them. We’ve already booked to return for our anniversary, and I’m telling family and friends about it. The team, the setting and the hospitality made this a birthday stay I’ll treasure.

Such a great weekend. The food was amazing and the service was first class. Thanks so much, couldn’t have asked for more from a hotel.

We’d always wanted to spend a night at The Feathers, and finally did. It lived up to our hopes. The bed was really comfortable, the shower room lovely, and the staff were sociable and helpful. Breakfast was very good, with cooked dishes made to order and a decent cold buffet too. Our street-facing room was on the small side, and the ironing board and iron took up much of the wardrobe. I’m not sure why they need to be there. Check-in was confusing: different sources gave 3pm and 4pm, so the times need updating, and reception felt a little chaotic.

Our dog was treated like a star, honestly getting more attention than we did, and we loved that this is genuinely a dog-friendly hotel. We’ve stayed three times now and will keep choosing it when we’re in the area. We’ve only booked the feature junior suites, which are impressively spacious and very clean. I assume the other rooms are just as good. The food is very good and fairly priced for a hotel. Breakfast has lots to choose from, including continental options and dishes you can order. For lunch or dinner, we prefer the pre-6pm menu to à la carte, since after a day out we like a quick bite rather than making dinner an occasion. Both menus have plenty of choice. All the staff are wonderful. Parking is limited, though we’ve never had trouble; residents might find it harder if they return during busy dining times. Thanks for another lovely stay. We’ll be back.
