Spark by Hilton Luton

The weak points were breakfast, which I wouldn’t pay for, and bathroom lights that have apparently been faulty for some time without being fixed. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, though the bar and restaurant area looked stylish and spacious, with reasonable prices. The rooms and bathrooms are modern and stylish, with a large TV, safe, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and ironing facilities. The hotel is near the rail and bus stations in central Luton, and seems like the best budget option there. Recommended. For anyone who’s been to the Sparks hotel in Romford, the rooms here are far superior.

The cleaning was immaculate, and the cleaner was the one good part of my stay. The rest left me with no intention of returning. This was my first time here, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all. The room was small, like London hotel rooms rather than what you get in Luton. The fridge was plugged in but didn’t work, and the shower kept dripping after I used the handle. The cupboard above the wardrobe was crumbling despite this supposedly being a refurbishment, and the mattress was old and sagged in the middle. There were no single-use Nescafe-style coffee sachets, just an espresso machine. The receptionist alone controlled the heating, which felt no different from other low-budget hotels in Luton. This is a franchising business, not a real Hilton hotel. Unless I was given the worst room there, that’s too many faults for a hotel named Hilton. Next time I’ll go back to Premier Inn or try somewhere else.

The breakfast was a highlight, and as Gold and Diamond Hilton Honors members we were pleased it was complimentary. One of the male breakfast team was especially kind and respectful to my mother, a moment that really touched us. Everyone we met was professional and welcoming, and the franchise owner was down-to-earth, approachable and clearly cared about guests having a good stay. Our room at Spark by Hilton Luton was spacious and well equipped with the comfort and convenience we needed. The hospitality from arrival onwards made this one of the best Spark by Hilton properties we’ve experienced, on a par with higher-tier Hilton hotels. There were too many staff names to remember, but the whole team made the stay feel seamless. We left full of praise, hope the owner continues to thrive and opens more properties like this, and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

The manager was friendly when we arrived, and the hotel was clean and nice. Having aircon in the room was a lifesaver in that weather. I’d book again if I were in the area, though no offence, I don’t think I’d come back to Luton 😂
