We couldn’t eat at the pub because its kitchen was closed over New Year, so we went to Lilac just down the street and had a fantastic meal. The room itself was nicely arranged, with a sofa, bay-window benches and a tiny en suite. There was a good choice of hot drinks, plus complimentary Prosecco and water in the rather noisy mini fridge. The friendly staff and handy location were a plus. It’s a quirky, charming room above a pub, but the website is right about the noise. Bring earplugs if you want a decent night’s sleep.

Good service, a nice pub atmosphere and a great location made this a stay I’d happily repeat. It was just what we expected from a room above an inn. You may want earplugs, but I’d still visit again.

For a room above a pub, the price felt pretty fair. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the location was fantastic, right in the middle of Lyme, halfway up the High St and within easy reach of everything.
