The New Wheel Inn was a friendly, comfortable place to stay for a night or two, and I'd happily return. Our room was very nice, the staff were helpful, breakfast was good and the prices sensible. It’s an honest pub B&B, not trying to be the Ritz. The location is especially handy for Lymington and exploring the New Forest. If you're taking the bus in and out of town, check the timetables and ask the staff exactly where your stop is. We missed one because we hadn't asked.

The staff were wonderful, kind and attentive, and very welcoming to dogs. My dog only had to look cute and wag his tail to keep getting biscuits, so he was happy too! We stayed at The New Wheel Inn for 2 nights in April on a New Forest weekend break. The room was clean and cosy, with toiletries supplied. The bedroom entrance is separate from the pub, up external stairs at the back, but that was fine. We ate at the pub twice. The portions were generous and tasty, and the homemade pie was perfect. My husband is choosy about pies and filling, so that's high praise. My crumble came with hardly any custard, as you can see in the photo, but they quickly brought a jug of piping hot custard. We only had breakfast one morning. We both ordered scrambled egg on toast, which was disappointing, with white 'cardboard bread and dry eggs. Even so, I'd definitely recommend this place.

We usually end up disappointed when eating out these days, but had a really good meal at The New Wheel Inn. The food came out piping hot, tasted great, and the portions were generous for a great price. The staff were really friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for more.

The cooked breakfast brought us back to The New Wheel the next morning, after a really good dinner the night before. We’d come across it while walking in the New Forest near Lymington, and it turned out to be a great find. Our group of four ordered two sirloins, one medium and one medium-rare, a lamb shank and a salmon steak. Everything arrived together after just sixteen minutes and was absolutely perfect. The young woman serving us was keen to help and seemed happy at work. I can’t fault the place and would highly recommend it for breakfast or a main meal.

We came back for Sunday roast after a very good meal at the pub. They welcomed us as soon as we arrived, and were happy to have our dog with us. My steak was cooked perfectly, and my wife’s liver was just right too. The staff were excellent.
