Best Western Forest Lodge

Being given a ground-floor room made things much easier with our pram and 2-year-old, and the location in Lyndhurst is excellent, close to restaurants and New Forest attractions. We stayed for 3 nights for my wife's birthday. The room was spacious and the shower was excellent, but some basics were missing for a 4-star hotel: there was no mini fridge, no milk for tea or coffee, and the mattress felt worn out. The restaurant was the biggest letdown. For our entire 3days stay, we were told the restaurant was reserved for coach groups from 6:30pm-8pm, so individual guests couldn't eat there. This wasn't mentioned when we booked. One night, after a long day out with our tired, hungry child, we were simply told to go elsewhere for dinner. Completely unacceptable for paying guests. I also mentioned several times that it was my wife's birthday, but it wasn't acknowledged at all. Even a small gesture would've made the stay feel special. The location is great, but the service and treatment didn't feel like a 4-star experience. We wouldn't stay again.

The pool facilities were spotless and breakfast was superb. Everyone was warm, friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. We had a clean room and a very comfortable bed. Some of the paintwork and fixtures could use a bit of attention, but it didn't affect our stay. We loved this hotel and would definitely come back.

We enjoyed the afternoon tea included in our deal, and the pizza we tried was stunning. The menu could do with more choice, though there are a couple of pubs within a five-minute walk if you'd rather eat elsewhere. The hotel was lovely and the staff even lovelier. Our room was well stocked with tea and coffee.

We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel clean, really nice and conveniently located for where I needed to be. Breakfast was great, and the staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. I'd definitely recommend it and stay again.
