Toad Hall Hostel

A quirky, well equipped home from home, with a warm, comfortable bed and great shared spaces. The hosts were wonderful and happy to help with anything. It’s tucked into a quiet spot that’s still convenient, and I’d happily come back.

A lovely little place, and the owner was great to me and my mate. Dyfi bike park is only a literal five-minute drive away, which made this a brilliant place to stay for mountain biking. I’ll be back.

After a damp, muddy day hiking, we were very glad to get straight into a hot shower. It’s easy to find, a stone’s throw from the station, and there’s a gas station 30 seconds away for picking up food. We had the triple room. There are four rooms, each with a lock for privacy. The linen was fresh, and everything felt tidy and homely. The kitchen was clean and had the basics, including a kettle, microwave, fridge and cutlery. Towels are supplied too. The huge common room is eclectic, with lots of books and kids’ toys, plus a piano and table tennis. Free WiFi is available, though we didn’t use it. We brought soap, but there was plenty of shampoo and body wash left by other guests. Our only little gripe was the cockerels waking us up. Otherwise, a fabulous stay. Thank you!

The place was clean and comfortable, and the WiFi worked well. We stayed four nights and never saw more than four guests, though I can’t imagine the small kitchen being easy to share if several people wanted to cook at once. The extra blankets came in handy because it was a bit chilly. It’s close to both the shop and the train station. The quirky lounge would be fun for a group in summer, but April was too damp and cold for us to use it. I’d be glad to return.
