Detling Coach House

The rooms were nice, the beds were great for someone like me who's sensitive to mattresses, and the people were friendly and helpful. I was worried before we arrived because Google Maps had us less than a mile away, on what looked like a huge highway street, so I expected traffic noise during our stay. I was completely wrong. A few hundred metres farther on, all we could hear was birds singing. Cheers!

After two months of travelling, I found this one of the coziest and most welcoming places I've visited. The rooms were clean and practical, and breakfast was excellent, with lots of variety. The owners were the best part: genuinely kind and friendly. I'll absolutely come back. 5/5.

We meant to rebook for another date, but after this experience they've lost our custom. I couldn't get time off work, so a couple of days after booking we asked through the website for a discretionary free cancellation. The B&B was fully booked for the festival weekend, and our room was still 15 weeks away, so I thought they'd have no trouble filling it again. They refused the request and charged us anyway. I understand cancellation fees, but turning down a discretionary waiver with that much notice on a busy weekend seems plain rude. I can only assume they're not very friendly or understanding, so I have to leave negative feedback.

The breakfast was great, and the accommodation was comfortable and just right for what we needed. I'd definitely book here again if I'm back in the area.
