It was a perfect birthday stay. We had a lovely wander around the grounds after the public had gone home, and our room looked out over the gardens and lake. Dinner in the restaurant was stunning, and breakfast was excellent too. An absolutely amazing experience.

Our stay felt really romantic and relaxing. They’ve managed to give it a modern feel while keeping the authentic atmosphere. The fresh paint, Bluetooth radio and illuminated bathroom mirror all added to that. Our room was near the restaurant; there’s also a room in the castle itself called "The Mainden's Tower room". We saw rooms on the water too, with views of the golf club.

The grounds around the castle are absolutely stunning. We stayed the night before a wedding there and had an excellent visit, with well appointed rooms and excellent service. It’s only a minute’s walk from the castle. I’d come back even if I hadn’t also had the chance to spend a night in the castle itself.

It’s lovely to walk around the grounds after the public have left, and to wait for sunset over the castle. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and breakfast excellent. A wonderful experience!

My wife surprised me with a night away, and Melissa at reception made us feel welcome right from the start. She was warm and personable. A very nice young chap showed us to the room, though I didn’t catch his name. The room was clean, tidy and well presented, with tea, coffee and snacks provided. It was quiet in the grounds in the evening, and staying there also gave us access to the castle. We had a lovely full English breakfast overlooking the grounds. We also had a wonderful evening meal at The George Inn, about a 15-minute walk away, with great food and service. It was very quiet at night and we slept well. All in all, a great experience and well worth staying. Ignore the 1-star reviews, I can’t see how it could be that bad.
