The Oyster Smack Inn

The oysters were a good size and succulent, and the ginger, chilli and lime dressing was nicely balanced. I also had the duck rice bowl, which was delicious and had plenty of duck. There was just enough hoi sin sauce to mix through the rice without overpowering the duck. I’d checked reviews to choose somewhere for lunch while we were in the area, since I’d never been to Burnham before. The Oyster Smack had warm, inviting decor and was very clean. Staff were engaging and attentive without hovering. The extensive menu made it hard to decide, but I was happy with my choices and the lunch spot. I’d definitely return if I’m in the area again.

We booked The Oyster Smack Inn ahead of our wedding at a nearby venue, and the team have been so helpful, accommodating and friendly. Their service and communication have been impeccable. Sophie is a real asset, and we’ll be returning, recommending the place and making sure the team gets the recognition they deserve. The pub is beautiful, with a cosy, relaxing atmosphere, and the prices are very reasonable. I’d highly recommend it for a stay, a meal or just a drink together. Thank you so much for everything.

The restaurant has a relaxed, comfortable feel, and the portions are generous. The pheasant was really nice, and the crackling side and honeycomb dessert, both pictured, were very good too. Service was good, though a little more help explaining what came with certain dishes would have been appreciated.

We were visiting family nearby and stayed at the Oyster Smack, which gave us the chance to have a family Christmas dinner there as a treat. The staff were welcoming throughout, even though it was a busy time of year, and service stayed attentive without feeling rushed. The food was fresh, very well cooked and served in generous portions.
