The room felt newly furnished and had a nice sea view. The location was convenient, about a five-minute walk from the station, with several restaurants nearby. Breakfast was good, and the staff team were great. When a storm hit on the day we arrived, receptionist Fraser got the lobby fireplace going while we waited for our room.

The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful, and that made a real difference. The rooms were clean and had plenty of plugs, but they felt tired, and the mattress may have been the worst I’ve ever had in a hotel. It was also hard to close the room door without it slamming. The restaurant food was pretty decent.

Parking was easy, and I liked being close to the city center and marina. Still, I wouldn't come back: the stay cost a lot for the quality we got. The hotel needs investment, too. The walls are thin, and the doors have to be slammed to shut, which makes it hard to keep things quiet.

The lobby has a cool atmosphere, and it's a good spot for a short stay. One thing to watch if you're coming from Isle of Skye: check that the ferry is running before heading across. Google Maps doesn't account for ferry times, and we ended up driving three hours the long way around. 😬

The staff's kindness and service really stood out. Dinner at the hotel was a treat, especially the mussels, which were the best I've had in Scotland all summer. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a spacious bedroom and balcony, though the weather wasn't good enough to enjoy the balcony. The hotel is conveniently close to the train and ferry stations. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, and what we tried was good, but we hadn't realized how important it was to arrive early. We got there 45 minutes before service ended, and many dishes had already run out. I'd highly recommend staying and dining here if you're traveling through.
