The Foley Arms Hotel in Great Malvern is a historic Georgian building with loads of character, right at the foot of the Malvern Hills. We enjoyed staying there, and it made a great base for exploring. There are walking trails, the town centre and local attractions nearby, plus fantastic views over the Severn Valley. Typical room prices seem to run from around £58 on quieter nights to around £89+ on busy weekends, depending on room and season. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped, with complimentary Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities for unwinding after a day out. Having food and drinks downstairs was convenient too. There's no lift and nearby parking is limited, but for us the value, views and location made up for that. Lonely Traveler Productions recommends it for anyone visiting Malvern who wants history, character and a good location.

Our first stay in a Wetherspoons hotel went really well. The staff were brilliant, the room was clean and very comfortable, and there was free coffee in the bar. The terrace views are amazing. I hope the other hotels are just as good.
The breakfast choice was huge and the staff were friendly and polite. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the rooms were for the competitive price. They were extremely spacious, clean and well equipped, with the usual tea and coffee facilities, an iron and board, and a hairdryer. The bathroom was really nice and very clean. We stayed overnight and would definitely come again.
The terrace at the back has spectacular views, and service was quick. Inside, the place is large, clean and laid out well, with toilets that are easy to find instead of tucked down a maze of corridors. It may once have been one of Malvern's grandest hotels, but you don't really notice it's a Wetherspoons until you see the clientele. There isn't much else to dislike.
The beer was wonderful as usual and the service was great, but the Big Smoke BBQ burger on the Tuesday deal was a letdown. The picture in the menu looked nothing like what arrived, and the smoked BBQ brisket looked like what my cat leaves behind. I usually stick up for 'spoons, and I think the problem may be the topping squeezed from a sachet rather than the site itself. I wish I'd chosen the American Cheese burger like my wife. We'll stick to the Wednesday pizza deal, which is the best pizza in the UK. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
