Bowling Green

For the second year in a row, we held our annual MS Society Christmas meal in the private function room at The Bowling Green pub. It’s spacious and warm, beautifully decorated for Christmas, and all on one level, which worked well for people with mobility problems. There’s also a private bar and a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. The staff took great care of us. Mark answered all our questions while we were booking. Before the event, Liam welcomed us and talked through how we wanted the day to run. Ben looked after us on the day, checking whether we wanted to wait for late arrivals or start serving, and holding meals for those who arrived later. Some guests couldn’t come because of illness, which can happen when organising a meal for people with chronic health conditions, and the staff were very understanding. They went the extra mile, including bringing drinks to members at the table if they had mobility problems. Serving more than 30 people is no small job, but the team made it look easy. We can’t thank them enough for making the day special, and we’d highly recommend The Bowling Green for a function. We hope to come back next year! 😊

Mark, the owner, was a great help while I was planning my partner’s 30th birthday party in the function room. He helped with the setup, music, and food choices, so it was easy to organise. On the night, the staff were attentive, accommodating, and gave us fantastic service. I’d happily recommend the place for a private event!!!

I was working in the area and stayed for one night. This small hotel was a great find, and I was really impressed. My room was warm, quiet, and comfortable, and the gentleman who showed me to it was helpful and polite. They’ve thought of everything, including plenty of breakfast items and different soft drinks. I didn’t use the pub, but it seemed to have a lovely atmosphere. The landlord and staff have done a great job. I also loved how clear the signs were, so you always knew where to go. Thank you.

I stopped in for coffee with my mum yesterday. The welcome was great, and the coffee tasted brilliant. The food looked amazing too, so we came back tonight with my mum, brother, and grandma. We had a lovely meal, and the staff were welcoming and happy to see us. Brilliant service, five stars again. Thanks to everyone at the bowling green. I’m looking forward to trying more of the food. 🙂❤️
