I came to Tank and Paddle for our work Christmas do, and the upstairs bottomless brunch was great value. It’s not usually the sort of place I’d go, but I really couldn’t fault the food or the service.

It’s sad seeing the Printworks decline. I used to love coming here for a night out and a good meal, but so many bars and restaurants have shut lately. On my last visit to Manchester city centre, I saw Irish bar Waxy O'Connors had closed, along with the Bierkeller bar, and now the Hard Rock cafe is gone too. Those were all places I used to go. The Printworks is dying a death these days.

The Nuffield health studio was good. I came here for that, then wandered through the Paintwork place, which looked interesting. There seem to be quite a few good places to eat during the day, and they turn into lively, busy bars at night. I haven’t been in any of the bars for over 16 years. I remember they were more aimed at younger drinkers, which is why I never went back, though younger friends who do go say they’re fun. I’m sure there used to be a drag show bar around here somewhere. Maybe that’s another old memory.

Half an hour with no sound once, until I got up and told someone. I complained online and got two free tickets, so, oh well. It’s always cold in there, bring a blanket 😒

My granddaughter and her boyfriend stopped here for a drink on their way to a Deaftones concert. A security guard told her to put more clothes on because there were children around. She asked if he was joking, but he said he wasn’t, and she was really upset. She’s never been spoken to like that before. Families with children on either side were shocked too. They said he was rude and had no problem with what she was wearing. The way he treated her was offensive. If you go, be aware that they seem to have a dress code but haven’t told customers about it.
