The Normanhurst Hotel

We were meant to stay overnight, but the room was so disgusting we left about half an hour after arriving. The place had a strange feel from the start and looked outdated. We were in the outer building, where the hallway carpets were stained, the walls were dirty, and everything felt old and dingy. In the room there were cobwebs between the cabinets, urine and blood stains on the carpet, mold starting in the bathroom, dim lights and an unpleasant smell. Within five minutes I was sneezing constantly and my nose was running. My partner got bitten by something after sitting on the bed. We didn't feel comfortable sleeping there, so we left and stayed at the crown plaza by the airport instead, which was excellent.

The bed was really comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was fair. The room and bathroom looked a bit worn, and the building is clearly old. We didn't eat there, but had a good stay. The location is handy, and it's easy to get an uber to wherever you need to go in Manchester.

Please don't waste your money here. From the front it looks like the photos, but inside it wasn't luxurious or nice and felt more like a council estate. There was black mould in the kettle and the glasses hadn't been washed. The heating barely worked, so we were shaking and chattering all night. Even with the hot water on and both the shower and tap set to their hottest, the bath only filled lukewarm. We arrived for our 23-00 booking at 20 past 11, but there was no night bell and the man said there was a late charge, though he wouldn't charge us. We weren't late. He kept us waiting outside for an hour. We explained that my girlfriend has a disability and that the cold and all the walking to get there had left her in excruciating pain. The wait was awful, and by then she was in agony.

Amir Hamza was especially kind, professional and helpful, and even made it convenient for us to heat our food. His service made the stay comfortable and memorable. I really enjoyed the hospitality and had a great time at the hotel. Highly recommend it! 🌟
