OYO The Yew Tree

Such a shame, because the location is lovely and the people running the place were lovely too. The breakfast bag and dressing gowns are a nice idea, but the room really needs refurbishment. Paint was peeling in lots of places, the rusty shower caddy couldn’t be used, and the shower tap broke off when I tried to turn it on. The sink was also too tiny to fill the kettle.

We had a very pleasant stay and would come back. The surroundings are beautiful, with lovely walks, and our room had a big double-ended bath. They’d also provided two robes and slippers. The host was welcoming, great, and very accommodating. The rooms are outside the historic pub, a bit like an American motel. The furniture is a dated mishmash, but functional, and the paint job looked rushed and wasn’t done very well. The pub terrace got noisy in the nice weather, though they close it at 10, which is good for guests staying there.

The room had a big, comfortable bed and was nice and clean. I loved the roll-top freestanding bath in the marble-style bathroom, it gave the place a luxurious feel. A few small things could be better: the lights flicker and could use dimmer bulbs, and some hand soap would’ve been nice. There were free shampoo and shower gel tubes, though. The complimentary coffee is the obligatory awful Nescafe. Staff were friendly and attentive, and kept trying to refill my beer 😂. Great food, a lovely location, and I had a great night.

A tiny local hotel in the middle of nowhere, just right for a stay before a flight the next morning. The airport is a 15 min drive away! There’s a nice pub for drinks and food from the bbq.
