Mounts Bay Caravan Park

The beach is just a three-minute walk from the park, across the road, and the town takes about five minutes to reach on foot. Buses on the coastal circular route stop outside, with regular services to Penzance and St Ives. It’s a brilliant little family-run park in a great spot, with about 17 caravans. The clean, well-presented caravan was positioned so its outdoor area felt fairly private. Residents also have a private outdoor pool, a real suntrap that stays warm in the sun, even when swimming at 9am opening time. We loved our stay and hope to come back next year!

We did enjoy the holiday, absolutely, but I probably wouldn’t return. The site is lovely and quiet, though we were unlucky with one family whose two children played football and shouted "goooal" until 10pm. The pool itself is pleasant and a nice temperature, but there isn’t much seating if more than two caravan parties are using it. The caravans are very small, and rainy weather made that more noticeable. There’s little storage, and although ours was exceptionally clean, it felt a bit tired and short on modern conveniences. Phone reception was so poor I couldn’t stream anything, and there’s no WiFi, as the website says. We also struggled with the laundry. A wash costs £6, and the dryer is £1 p/10min but did nothing. There was nowhere suitable to hang damp clothes apart from a tiny window hanger, which meant leaving a window fully unlatched. That may not suit everyone and left the caravan feeling damp. Still, the setting at the bottom of Marazion is beautiful, with a lovely view of St. Michael's Mount. It’s a small, quiet site where cars can enter only to load or unload, and you can easily get to Penzance, St. Erth, St. Ives or even Newquay for the day. Given the location, you’d probably expect to pay more. This was our second visit, seven years after the first. Being cut off from modern conveniences may sound appealing to some, but I found it a bit too removed.

The site made a great base for seeing Cornwall. Our highlights were the St Michaels Mount tour, Porthcurno beach and Lizards Point, and it’s such a beautiful part of the country. It was our first stay at Mount Bay Caravan site, a lucky find, and we were very impressed. The location was great, the caravans were clean and tidy, and the pool was an added bonus. We had a fabulous week and plan to return next year to do it all again. Thanks for having us!

The site and caravans are kept immaculate, and the owners are friendly and always willing to help you make the most of your stay. Marazion beach is a five-minute walk away, with the St Michael's Mount causeway about ten minutes on foot. Penzance, Mousehole and St Ives are an easy drive. It's a great spot for a relaxing break in West Cornwall. We've been coming for over 20 years and will be back soon.
