Ye Olde Griffin

The Griffin is right in the town centre and has a relaxed, friendly feel throughout. Our Dachshunds were made just as welcome as we were, which mattered a lot to us. We stayed for two nights last week after stepping off a cruise. The clean, well equipped room was lovely, and the bed was even more comfortable than the one on board. Staff were kind and friendly, and Dave served a good breakfast each morning. We also ate in the bar with our local relatives both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. We'd highly recommend it and will stay again. Thanks, everyone.

I stayed here for two weeks running and loved it. The pub is always busy with friendly locals, which seems a good sign people want to be there. My room was above the bar for one of the weeks, but noise never disturbed me. It's a charming spot opposite the marketplace, and parking was never an issue. The food was delicious every night, great quality and value. The room was cleaned as you'd expect, with lovely Borders biscuits as a nice extra. Staff were friendly and ready to help. Special mention to Rob, who was there most mornings to start my day cheerfully and serve consistently delicious breakfasts. I'd definitely return and recommend it.

We had lunch here on Easter Sunday. The staff were helpful and friendly, but the food was just okay, nothing special. Neither of us had ever had a cheesecake we liked less. If you want an inexpensive meal in the style of Toby Carvery, this place is ideal.

My mate and I dropped in while passing through, and the food was spot on. We had a great laugh with Patrick, who was brilliant and looked after us so well. We always had a drink, and he seemed to know what we wanted before we did. An absolute gem of a bloke. Highly recommend!
