Breakfast was very good, and we'd happily return for more, especially with all the lovely walking nearby and the Cromford Canal so close. We stayed in room 5 on the top floor, where the bed was really comfortable and the linen smelled gorgeous. The pub had a lovely feel, with open fires to welcome us and friendly staff. It was packed on Saturday 21st March 2026, but there were plenty of people working and the queues moved quickly. Dinner was delicious in a beautiful room, and Lolly, the owner, was great.

That Sunday roast was one of the best I've had in ages. We brought our two dogs, and both the staff and locals made them welcome. Lollie and her team really made our stay. It's a quaint pub with fantastic food, definitely worth visiting.

We had a lovely three course meal on Valentines Night. For starters we shared humous, Korean chicken and garlic mushrooms, then had two rib eye steaks, and finished with a sharing dessert of three items. Everything was top quality and cooked to perfection, all prepared and cooked on site. Simply lovely 😍

We came for dinner on a Wednesday after the nearby Family Tree Inn recommended The Jug & Glass. We hadn't booked, but the cheerful waitress found us a corner table in a room where a local group was planning some kind of event. The food was delicious and well priced, and the serving of chicken & leek pie was huge, with fresh cooked peas and hand cut chips done perfectly. I couldn't finish it. I have a particular food allergy, so the waitress checked with the chef, who said the pie was safe because it was made in house. That's unusual for me, as pies elsewhere are often brought in and contain the allergen I can't tolerate. The waitress was lovely. Certainly worth stopping in.

The place itself is lovely and it's a nice pub, but I didn't feel welcome there. I'm working class and live in a rented home. Nearby, a group of scruffy looking rich people were talking, with one boasting he'd spent £25000 doing up the front of the house and garden. They turned up in new cars and brought two walking hiking sticks for the ten foot walk to the pub. Very lardy dar. Dogs were on the seats, and the drinks and food were very expensive. I may not be rich, but most of the women were smiling and looking at me, while their grey haired older partners were too busy bragging. P.S. I got one of their tel numbers. Money carnt buy what I have and who I am.
