We really enjoyed the outdoor space with the children, and the weather was lovely while we were there. The property is gorgeous, beautifully furnished, and well equipped for a family break. It’s also well placed for footpath walks to local pubs, including The Gate Inn, where we had a gorgeous meal, and into Matlock to enjoy its attractions. We’d wholeheartedly recommend it to family and friends.

The cottage sits on a hill with great views, and there’s parking for four cars. It’s impressive and has what you need, including a large kitchen and living room with a big dining table. Matlock is about a 30-minute walk. There was a modem, but I couldn’t tell whether WiFi was meant to be available, and it didn’t work for us. The downstairs shower is great. Just be aware that from the back twin room you can hear the water tank rumble when someone uses it. There are front and rear gardens, but the walls are quite low, so you’ll need to keep an eye on pets.

We had a wonderful weekend for a birthday celebration with six adults, two babies and a toddler. The accommodation was excellent, and we couldn’t fault it. We’ll be back.

The round toilet with an oval seat was the one thing that could be improved. Otherwise, this is a beautiful cottage, very well appointed and equipped. I’d love to stay again.
