The grounds out back are really beautiful, and the staff were lovely and polite when we arrived. We stayed in Penthouse 1, which had a spacious bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area. The kitchen was stocked with milk, tea, coffee and breakfast items. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were great, but the frame squeaked loudly with even the smallest movement and disturbed our sleep. There were some maintenance problems in the room, including lights coming loose, awkward handles and plaster coming off the walls, though it's still a great room. The landing outside was unlit, with a small step we couldn't see in the dark. My wife tripped on it and hurt her ankle. There was no hot breakfast, which disappointed us, but the owners provided continental food. We'd stay again and recommend it.

We had lovely views, plenty of food for breakfast, and nice hosts. The rooms do get hot, as other guests have mentioned. I had to keep the windows open in December, though it didn't spoil the visit. I'd go again.

The scenery was lovely and we got a warm, friendly welcome. You'll need your own transport, though. After a good night at an event, it was hard to book a taxi back to the guest house, but we found people willing to share one.

The room and its presentation were excellent, and we had no problems with the payment once it was taken. Still, the welcome was a poor start. We rang the bell and got a blunt "yes". After we explained who we were, the woman immediately said we were an hour late. When we booked, we'd told her we hoped to arrive around 11am. She said she'd been waiting to go out and, because our payment card had been declined, had assumed we wouldn't turn up. We explained that traffic had delayed us. The stated check-in time wasn't until the afternoon, so the way she spoke to us felt especially unwelcome.

We had a lovely welcome and the gardens were beautiful. The place was wonderfully appointed, and breakfast was good, with a fridge and cooking facilities there to help. We'd highly recommend it.
