The fire pit and BBQ were a big part of our night, with charcoal and a net of logs available through an honesty box. You can order pizza for dinner too, or book breakfast ahead. We were on a four-day road trip and stayed one night in two twin double bell tents. They had the basics covered, including bed linen, but remember to bring a towel for the shower. Lovely glamping spot right in the middle of the Oswestry-Welshpool-Shrewsbury triangle. We had a great time.

Breakfast was absolutely beautiful 👌🏻. We really enjoyed the stay and everything was as expected, no complaints. The pods sit quite close together in a sort of semicircle, so I can imagine a rowdy group might be an issue. Would highly recommend.

We had two excellent freshly made 12" pizzas from the wood-fired oven, a margeretta and a spicy meat feast. There’s a nice selection of breakfast and dinner items too. The glamping bell tents our friends used looked lovely, with carpets, proper beds and mattresses, rattan garden furniture and a BBQ outside. The campsite is level and well looked after. There’s a little shop with wood, ice creams and kids’ toys, and they provide fire pits for fires. The toilet and shower block is clean and maintained, with no charge, and there’s a small but good playground with a swing, slide and climbing frame over play bark. It felt safe for kids to roam. The pot wash has hot running water, and you can fill drinking bottles there too, though the kitchen taps run slowly. A standpipe would help. A couple of things to know: it’s set up for tents, day vans and glamping, so there’s no electrical hookup; bring your own power. There’s also no ELSAN or chemical toilet disposal. That wasn’t a problem for us because the site toilets are nearby, but cassette toilet users should be aware. We’d camp here again.

Cassie and James were so friendly, even helping with a screwdriver when the car’s engine protection plate came loose. They also let us have a free late checkout since nobody was arriving after us. We had a hot breakfast delivered to the tent, and it was delicious and worth the treat. We had a brilliant stay and will be back, perhaps to try a pod and the pizzas delivered to your door. Big Bear Lodge, thank you for a fabulous time. We’re already thinking about our next visit. We’d booked a bell tent for two nights, then got a free upgrade because the larger tent was unbooked. We stayed in the Whistler tent with my partner and our two dogs, though it can sleep a family of five. It had a king-size bed, double sofa bed, single bed in a box, nightstands, a basket with an extra blanket, small fridge, end table and dresser with crockery, kettle, tea and coffee. Bedding was provided, though we brought sleeping bags as the first night was expected to be chilly. There was EHU for the fridge, kettle and charging phones. The tent had carpet, durable flooring and a doormat to keep mud down. It’s a lovely, clean, well-managed site. Dogs are welcome but need to stay on leads because the lane is close by, even though it isn’t busy. Outside the tent were a fire pit, BBQ and patio table and chairs. The honesty shop around the corner on the camping field sold logs, charcoal and other bits like toys, drinks, milk, biscuits, guy lines and pegs, all at reasonable prices. The toilet and shower block was bright, clean and heated, with waterfall showers. Accessible facilities included a large shower, raised toilet with grab rails and a wide ramp up to the block.

It’s a small campsite, but it has what you need. The toilets and showers are well kept, and the honesty shed shop is a great extra. A really nice, family-friendly place to camp.
