We stopped at The Butt of Sherry before heading to Stourhead for its Christmas event, and the Sunday Roast was exactly what we wanted. Sunday’s menu was smaller, with three starters, three roasts including a vegetarian option, and a few desserts. The pub felt like a proper pub, welcoming and comfortable, with a nice atmosphere. Service was great, and the lady who served us was an absolute delight. My mushroom and thyme soup was piping hot, delicious, and a generous portion, even if mushroom soup can be tricky to make look appealing. We both went for Roast Pork Loin after that. The portion was huge, piping hot, and came with plenty of vegetables, gravy, and extras that made it even better. It’s the best roast lunch I’ve had out in a long time, and great value. We paid under £60 for two starters, two roasts with all the trimmings, two pints, and two glasses of wine. I’d highly recommend The Butt of Sherry if you’re after a really good roast in a friendly pub.

Stopped here for a quick lunch and really enjoyed it. The portion was enough, the food tasted good, and the staff were so kind. Excellent service, you should visit!

The pint and the bar were good, but I couldn’t get the service I needed. The Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect, and I’m sure I was given the wrong password. When I asked again, the landlord didn’t seem concerned. I ended up unable to finish my work that day. If you work remotely, I wouldn’t bother coming here. It was a waste of time.

The beer selection is decent, and the beer garden is great on a warm summer day, though there are several steep steps up to the main deck. There’s no cooked food available at the moment, and they’re only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday quiz nights are loud and fun if that’s your thing.
