The cottage was nicely decorated and felt quiet and homey, but the week had two big problems. We booked for Christmas expecting the log fire shown in the photos, but it turned out to be a gas fire sealed off for safety reasons. The oven also wouldn’t go above 140°C, so the turkey took four hours instead of two. The landlady helped by letting us use her oven next door, but it was still stressful and not the Christmas lunch we’d hoped for. We then spent the whole week without a properly working oven. She brushed off the issue, even though earlier reviews mentioned the same oven problem and it still hadn’t been fixed. It could be a lovely cottage, but with no usable fire and a faulty oven, it was too expensive.

We’ve stayed here twice, and it’s a great location. The self-catering barn is well equipped for two and has lovely scenery all around. It’s peaceful too. If you’re patient, you might spot the resident barn owls.

Emily and Mike made us feel very welcome, and my daughter especially loved the three dogs who live there. The converted barn is cosy and comfortable, with everything you could need for a holiday. It’s a fantastic base for exploring Wiltshire and Dorset. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it.

Amanda and her family were so kind and lovely. We had a beautiful stay at the Cider Barn in December 2020. The property is stunning, and the barn itself was pretty, warm, and comfortable. I’d highly recommend staying here.

Keepers Cottage was probably the best-appointed cottage I’ve stayed in. It’s in a very quiet spot, with lots to do and visit nearby. We had a wonderful stay.
