Chadwick Guest House

The Full English Breakfast was good for the price. I would have liked another sausage and some mushrooms, but at that rate it's hard to complain. We had a nice shower room, and luckily it was for our private use since we were in the only ground-floor room. The bed was comfortable and not too soft, though the duvet was a little short for a 5 foot 10 man and barely covered the end of the bed. My feet got a bit cold the first night. I don't know if it was changed during the day, but the duvet on the second night seemed longer and fitted better. We'd come a long way from Dorset, and Claudio was happy to stay up and check us in at 10.50 pm. We had told him from the start and kept him updated on our timings. He's an ideal host, and the prices are incredible. I offered to pay cash because it's better for banking and the local economy. The guest house is in central Middlesbrough. I didn't feel that part of town was unsafe, and I was comfortable leaving my brand-new electric car charging from lampposts on nearby streets. Some online reviews say the hotel only books adults, but that's not true. It's family friendly, and Claudio was happy to accept me and my son in a twin room.

After my first night away, I chose to stay closer to where I needed to be and checked into Brass Castle Country House. It was described as luxurious and cost £119.00 for one night, but the accommodation was disgustingly filthy and squalid. I went back to Chadwick Guesthouse for two more nights. Claudio is a welcoming host who cooks a lovely breakfast, and the place is inviting and spotlessly clean. The main road is a five-minute walk away, with local buses that make it convenient to get around Middlesbrough. I'm going back to Chadwick Guesthouse next week and wouldn't stay anywhere else when I visit the area. I first booked one night for 07/09/2025 while working around Middlesbrough. I knew it might not be close or convenient for the places I needed to visit, since I use public transport.

On a cycling trip, I stayed here for the second time. Claudio is a really great host and even offered to give my bike a quick clean. The guesthouse is spotless and cosy, with a comfortable bed and spotless bathroom and shower room. Breakfast, cooked to order, was great too. It's a real bargain compared with a couple of other nearby places I stayed. Definitely recommend it, and I'll be back in spring.

A nice, cheaper B&B near the football. The owner was welcoming and friendly. Parking is available, though limited, and breakfast was good.
