Lovely pub. They didn’t have food on because of renovations, so they pointed us to a local shop to grab a sandwich. We came back with it and had a drink.

EDIT: A few days later everything was sorted out. We went back and were given free drinks as an apology. I’d actually recommend the Wednesday quiz night. My friend and I are both 26. We showed our IDs and got served our first alcoholic drinks after they checked them. When we went to buy a second, they checked our IDs again and accused us of using fakes. I’m not clever enough to know where to get fake ID, and why would I use one at a pub on my doorstep? I was appalled. If you’re under 30 and have ID, be prepared to be accused of using a fake.

A traditional pub with pool, good beer and a familiar, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a good spot for anyone after some peace and rest at the entrance to the Peak District.

The welcoming, relaxed atmosphere made this feel like a lovely place to visit. Staff were friendly, and it’s clearly set up well for children and families. I’d definitely recommend it ☺️

That pint must have evaporated, because there’s no way I drank it that fast! I reckon I’ve found the nicest pub in the UK. Keep it quiet, though, or it might get spoiled.
