A friendly pub with good food and drinks. The accommodation is bigger than usual and finished to a good standard.

The interior decor is amazing, and the service was good, but the food didn’t live up to expectations. The menu is fairly limited and quite expensive, so I’d expect the quality to reflect that. At least half our party ordered salads, but sadly they were basically a 'super' garnish with the meat simply placed on top. The chips were good, though 😊.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and their service was good. It’s a shame the food was so poor. I had the steak at a Saturday night birthday meal, and it was highly overpriced for what was served. There weren’t many people eating, which tells a story. The place seems unsure whether it’s a pub or a restaurant, and doesn’t quite have the balance right.

The beer was alright, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The decor felt odd for a pub and restaurant, though. It reminded me of the usual look of a curry house, which made the place feel a bit strange inside.

The woman behind the bar who served our table was brilliant, but the food and the kitchen staff’s attitude were absolutely disgusting. My husband, son, and I visited the white heart on Sunday the 15th at about 5.15pm. When we arrived, some young men were at the bar talking and swearing. We later learned they were the chef's/kitchen staff. We ordered from the main menu and the Sunday menu, but were told that the main-menu items we’d chosen weren’t available because service ended in 20 minutes. We were disappointed but chose other dishes from the Sunday menu. The olives and bread came without any balsamic in the oil, and some of the green olives were wrinkled and tasted foul. The mains were dry, overcooked beef, a soggy, flat Yorkshire pudding, and a few tiny, dry roast potatoes. The vegetable lasagne was terrible: the pasta was raw all the way through and the vegetables barely warm. We told the woman serving us, and she apologised and offered a refund. When the kitchen staff left, they glared at us and made a comment, leaving us very uncomfortable and unwelcome. We also saw them cooking in their normal clothes, which seemed highly unhygienic. We’ve recently moved to penistone and want to support local businesses, but we’ll think twice before visiting or recommending the white heart to friends or family. A very disappointing visit.
