The bed was huge and really comfortable, and the room and bathroom were clean, fresh, and nicely decorated. Room 14 in the cottage is well equipped and accessible, with a powerful walk-in shower and easy temperature controls. Everyone was welcoming, from the attentive bar staff to the friendly team who explained that only continental breakfast was available while the kitchen was closed. Midhurst seemed very quiet that Thursday, with just one other couple in the restaurant we chose. We’d stay again. I hope the kitchen can reopen, as it would be a shame to lose this gem on the town’s main street, especially with the cost of keeping the Angel up to its current standards.

The cooked breakfast was fresh and good quality, and reception welcomed us and showed us to our room. The accommodation was clean and excellent, though the bar’s drinks choice was limited. Since it was a Sunday in mid-February, the restaurant was closed, so I can’t comment on the food or wine there. I’d stay again and recommend this historic place.

Our guests enjoyed the hotel’s quirky, comfortable rooms and its history, and the staff were excellent throughout. We booked rooms for our wedding party, and the reservation was handled efficiently at a competitive price. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. I’d thoroughly recommend the hotel.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the wine was good. I’d go back, though next time I might ask for more bread with the ploughman’s, as there wasn’t much and that seemed odd given bread is the cheapest part. The food itself was delicious. It was interesting to see how the place has changed since my sister used to drink here. These days it’s more of a daytime tea room, with a very small menu and few hot options.

The room was pleasant enough, but the bed felt like a slab of cement, and the makeshift double glazing did little to block the noise from the very busy road. Midhurst also felt unusually expensive for a place that’s difficult to reach and has limited services. Watch out for taxi prices. I enjoyed my friend’s wedding at the Walled Garden, but I won’t be hurrying back to the area. I’d booked months ahead for the wedding weekend, then was charged an extra £200 on arrival without anyone checking my original price. I asked and got a refund, but that increase was outrageous. Two days before arrival they also emailed to say they couldn’t provide cooked breakfast, with no discount offered. They said they could do a gluten-free continental breakfast with cold meats, but Saturday there was only fruit, so I went to Comestibles cafe for a proper breakfast. On Sunday there were cold meats and a little gluten-free bread, still disappointing when it shouldn’t be that difficult. I had another breakfast at The Lion's Den in Haslemere before my train home. In these post-Covid times, the hotel seemed unable to cope.
