Leonardo Hotel Milton Keynes

We’ve stayed here many times and plan to come back. The hotel is clean, great value and in a fantastic location for shopping, bars and restaurants. Even though it’s busy, the rooms are quiet, and the beds are very comfortable. There was a problem with our room when we arrived, but Johnny, the manager, immediately upgraded us to an executive room. He also gave us complimentary breakfast and dinner, and both were really nice. He helped with the move, offered to carry our luggage, and called later to check that everything was all right. I can’t fault the place.

I stay here for business now and then, and the rooms aren’t great. The carpets look filthy, with the pile worn down to the mesh underneath. The hotel is right among lots of bars, and there’s a serious problem with people hanging around out front who shouldn’t be there. Loud, obnoxious and sometimes aggressive drunks can be heard yelling even from the room. It’s a very unsavoury experience. My room has been freezing every time. The heating is completely useless.

I was here for a company meeting. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the shower had great pressure. The food was acceptable, but I’m glad I wasn’t paying for the stay myself. The room was cold all night even after reception changed the thermostat remotely. There was no complimentary water, and a 500ml bottle cost £2.95, which felt excessive. Breakfast was below average and had few options. There was no cappuccino, just americano with milk, the tea selection was limited, and there weren’t even biscuits or light refreshments with the coffee.

The rooms and service were great, and it’s ideal for a weekend away. Parking is a bit awkward since you have to use MK city centre, and the hotel has no allocated spaces. Overnight parking is cheap, though, and can be extended. I’d recommend it.
