We had dinner on Saturday and loved the menu, especially the excellent vegan choices. The portions were sensible, which meant I still had room for pudding! Breakfast was great too, with vegan options. Our room was lovely and looked out to sea, though it was small. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is charming and right in the centre of Porlock.

The Lorna Doone Hotel made Christmas Day feel first class. Lunch was served in a cosy dining room decorated beautifully for the season. All three courses were cooked to perfection, and the service was excellent.

We stopped here with friends during a multi-day hike. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and our room was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was lovely, and we took up the option of a packed lunch for hikers. Such a great little hotel.

The photos don’t quite capture how lovely this hotel is. Our room was the small one, but it was bright, faced the ocean and had a breathtaking view. Everything felt freshly renovated and was tastefully done. Breakfast was delicious, with vegetarian options as well.

We ended up ordering a generous piece of beef with super-fresh vegetables, plus lamb ragù pasta after some tasty starters. The pudding was awesome, and a bottle of Sangiovese went perfectly with it all. Choosing was hard because every menu option looked appetising. We ate here on Saturday and had a great evening. It’s a lovely restaurant run by charming people who know how to make guests feel at ease.
