Alcombe House

The place was spotless, with a lovely room, an amazing bed, and a pond I really liked. We arrived late after calling ahead, and that was no problem. We came on our Harley Davidson, which was fine too, even though some places frown on that. Everyone was warm and friendly when we arrived. We'd stay again, thanks so much.

We came as a large group, and the house was spacious and well built. The views from some upper floors were stunning, and it was handy being close to Tesco and Lidl, with the beach and pier only five minutes away. The kitchen had plenty of cookware and cutlery, the dining area had two tables and two high chairs, and the lounge was nicely set up with seating and a TV with Netflix and other apps. There was ample driveway parking for about 6-7 cars. Irons were available, though not in every room. There were some real problems too. Water from the tank's overflow pipe poured onto the roof by the bedroom windows, making so much noise at night that it was hard to sleep in rooms next to it. Some carpets had damp stains, suggesting water had come through the ceiling. We called the owner, who came to look, but the only proposed fix was to turn off the water completely, which would have left us unable to use it or flush toilets. Most beds were doubles that felt too small for two adults to sleep comfortably. The infant cot mattresses were too big for the cots, so the provided covers didn't fit either. Only a toilet roll per bathroom was supplied, so bring extra toiletries. It was an okay stay, but I probably wouldn't return to this house.

The bed was firm but really comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely and immaculate. The TV in our room was tiny. It's a beautiful, very clean place, near a local pub and about 20 minutes from the front. The hotelier was friendly and polite. Highly recommended.

The owner clearly cares a lot about guests and keeps the hotel immaculate. The garden was wonderful, and it's a short walk to amenities and the seafront. I was a key worker let down by an earlier booking, and the owner took me in without hesitation, thank you so much. The bed was by far the most comfortable I've ever slept in. I'll absolutely stay again, thoroughly recommended!
