The footpath behind Bossington Hall takes you straight down to Bossington and onto the South West Coast Path. We loved the walk to the old Coastguard lookout and Selworthy Beacon for the views, though the climb is steep. The shorter loop to the shingle beach and back was gentler. If you're travelling with furry friends, Martinhoe has a water bowl, mat and towel, plus a rear door that opens directly onto the grounds. For us, a coffee pod machine would have been a welcome extra. We were there for three nights, and the place felt more like staying with friends in a beautiful country retreat than a conventional hotel. It's quiet, classy, and wonderfully relaxing. The sunny weather helped, but so did the care and attention to detail. We walked the grounds, used the sauna, helped ourselves to Nook snacks and stopped at the excellent Honesty Bar several times. Highly recommended.

It's easy to walk to Porlock and Porlock Weir, though we ate in the Larder on our first night and enjoyed a bottle of wine and a G & T from the honesty bar. Breakfast was delicious, made with local produce and served with a smile. Our huge Greenaleigh room had a comfortable, enormous bed and an even bigger sofa facing the sunset view. The private bathroom across the corridor was probably the largest we've ever used, with an acoustic break between it and the room. Bossington Hall is a characterful house in an amazing spot, with Exmoor National Park spread out in front. If six stars were an option, I'd give them. I'm sure we'll be back.

We've been to Bossington Hall three times now, and once again they looked after us so well. It's set on a hill with fantastic views, including the sea, and there's everything we need nearby. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and have en suites. We've never had any noise. Staff know the area well and are very helpful. Breakfast, whether continental or English cooked to order, is always good. We'll return again.

If coastal walks, lovely English countryside, old little villages and characterful pubs full of locals and their dogs sound good to you, this is a beautiful stretch of UK coastline. Bossington Hall is a magnificent country house, restored with real care, so it's both grand and extremely comfortable. We were looked after very well and would love to come back.

The sea and moor views are stunning from this beautiful Arts and Crafts house. The rooms are tastefully furnished, the beds are super comfortable, and the space is generous by any standard, especially for a B & B. There's lots of room to unwind indoors, with a great bar and cinema room, charming lounge, well-stocked library and sauna. Breakfast, both buffet and cooked, was delicious. Excellent value for money.
