Kings Farm

Peter and Ruth made us feel very welcome and had useful suggestions for places to eat and things to see. The whole property and the rooms are finished to a very high standard, though the website presents it in a really understated way. Breakfast was excellent, especially the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. You won't be disappointed.

The bedrooms are bright and modern, the beds are comfy, and there's a lovely sitting room where you can settle in by the roaring fire. Ruth and Peter are so kind and helpful, and the accommodation feels every bit five star. I'd happily recommend it and will definitely come back.

Jane and Peter were so welcoming that it felt like staying with friends. Jane even made birthday cakes for us, and before we arrived she booked dinner for us at nearby pubs and restaurants and suggested places to visit. We loved the garden views from the outdoor seating and also had a beautiful lounge downstairs for relaxing after a day out. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with great pillows. The large ensuite had fluffy towels, lovely Penhalligan toiletries, and a very clean shower that was powerful and easy to use. Breakfast had plenty of choice, from cereal, yoghurt and fruit to a full English, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, or porridge, along with toast, tea or coffee and orange juice. Chai bread was new to us and so good that Jane ordered a loaf for us to take home. The house is in a stunning part of Exmoor national Park, with lovely gardens. In Withypool, the Royal Oak serves delicious food and has friendly staff, but you'll want to book a table ahead. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

It's a pretty, comfortable place in a lovely setting, and a handy base for exploring Exmoor. The welcome was warm and breakfast was delicious.
