Millstream Cottage Bed & Breakfast

We spent a couple of nights here at Whitsun and had a wonderful stay. The room was bright, clean and very comfortable, with a good range of teas and some lovely biscuits. We enjoyed choosing a cooked breakfast each morning before heading out to see the area. Phil and Paula gave us a warm welcome, and the tea and cake when we arrived was a simple, lovely surprise. We’d happily stay again.

Paula keeps Millstream Cottage beautiful and immaculate, with the thoughtful touches other guests have mentioned. During a brief power cut, she left a torch and candles for us to find when we got back late. Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of choice. We had a wonderful two-night stay in Dunster and highly recommend it.

Millstream Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring historic Dunster on foot, with Exmoor and plenty of other interesting places easy to reach by car. Guests have a lounge to relax in when they return, rather than having to stay in their rooms. Charles and Susan were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and breakfast was superb, served from 8:30 to 9:00 am. There were homemade cookies in the room too. A gem!

The small touches in our room made our stay at Millstream Cottage especially comfortable. There was a tin with plenty of teas and coffees, a jar of biscuits, and fresh milk in a mini-fridge on the landing for anyone who doesn’t like UHT pots. The bathroom had quality toiletries, and the dressing table drawer held a decent hairdryer with a nozzle, cotton buds, cotton wool and shoe polish. Breakfast was impressive too, with cooked choices, cereals, toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Paula and Phil could not have been more hospitable, and we felt right at home. We stayed in the duck-egg blue small double, which we picked for its pretty view across the garden and West Street. It wasn’t large, but it was perfectly adequate, with tasteful decor, a comfortable bed, a pretty window seat and an excellent shower. There are two spacious, cosy guest reception rooms, both comfortably and beautifully furnished. The pretty cottage gardens welcome you out front, and 500-year-old Millstream Cottage is the icing on the cake in postcard-perfect Dunster, a fantastic base for exploring Exmoor. We had a lovely three-night break. My husband and I rarely stay in the same place twice, but we’re sure to return on our next visit to Exmoor.
