The Great House

We really loved staying at The Great House. Our family room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and Bruce and Sheila were warm, lovely and accommodating. Sheila’s Afternoon Tea was a special highlight, absolutely perfect. It’s a truly charming place, and I highly recommend it.

Sheila’s cooking was a real highlight, and Bruce made sure our drinks were never running low. We had evening meals both nights and enjoyed the whole two-night Valentine stay. The room was quiet, spacious and clean, with an en-suite bathroom and a view over the front garden. Off-street parking was handy too. Thanks for looking after us so well. We’ll be back.

We stayed in the Luttrell Suite, which was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Our dog was welcomed with a lovely hamper in the bedroom and was made to feel at home around the hotel. Sheila was looking after everything on her own while Bruce was away on business, and she did it brilliantly. The hotel has so many interesting details, all thoughtfully restored to suit its name. The food was glorious, and it was just the place for a reset after life had thrown a few lemons our way. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Sheila.

We were so pleased to find a family room with a separate bunk room and its own door for the kids. That’s a rare setup, and we’ll be telling people about it. The place was welcoming from the moment we arrived, and everything felt top quality. Thanks to Sheila and Bruce for a lovely weekend. See you again soon.
