The Plume of Feathers

We were away for the weekend and came here for my birthday. The staff made us feel so welcome, and everything we ordered was outstanding. Such wonderful service and amazing food. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’ll be back!

We needed a hotel at the last minute for our final night in Cornwall, and the Plume of Feathers was a lovely choice. The room was huge, with a really big bed, a large TV, and a beautiful bathroom with both a bath and rain shower. It was spacious, warm, clean and cosy, with lots of thoughtful touches, including my favourite Bramley products. It felt luxurious. We also stopped at the bar for a nightcap. The cocktails were delicious and the staff were so friendly. We WILL be back. Thank you!

We were here for a family wedding, and the staff did everything they could to make our stay perfect. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were fantastic, spacious and well furnished, and there was a great range of food and drinks, with a varied menu and lovely beers. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

The food was a mixed bag, and the service was very average. Our party grew from three to five the day before we visited. We’d phoned to update the booking, but it hadn’t been changed, so we ended up in the bar area instead of the restaurant. It wasn’t a disaster, but it set the tone for the meal. We arrived at noon when the place wasn’t busy, ordered just one course because we were short on time, and still waited 40 minutes. The Ham and Eggs with a Scotch Egg was apparently really good, as was the Burger, though the Burger was quite small for the price. The Mussels were tasty, but the clotted cream sauce was too rich. My partner enjoyed the Chicken Club sandwich, which was almost too big. My Fish Bun, though, was tiny, cold and tasteless. After waiting so long, we didn’t have time to send it back. It’s not a cheap place to eat, and with average service and so-so food, I’d find it hard to recommend when there’s much better nearby for less.
