The service was welcoming and really good, and the staff showed us everything we needed. The rooms were clean and tidy enough, though not as spotless as they could be, and the bathroom fan could use a dusting. The room was fairly priced. Downstairs there's a sizable bar with things like Sunday karaoke, which could be a great offering if that's your kind of thing. It also meant a lot of noise at night, with guests going up and down and slamming doors outside our room. That's the nature of having the bar downstairs, rather than a fault with the staff or hotel. If you're a light or nervous sleeper on a night like that, you may struggle to sleep. Thanks.

We had a friendly stay and some nice conversations with one of the staff. There was a little confusion about where to enter the Star Hotel, but that was mostly our fault for missing a sign. Our room was quiet and nicer than we'd expected, and we got a good night's sleep while getting over some jet lag. We'd stay again.

The pub downstairs was noisy, but closing the windows blocked it out. We had two double rooms booked for the night with my husband and a friend, and my husband and I were upgraded on arrival to what I can only describe as an apartment. It was modern and very clean, with a wonderfully comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding, with good quality products. We'll definitely stay here again.

I had many good nights at the Star Hotel while working in Montrose. The pub's nice for a couple of pints after work, and the rooms are okay and always clean, though the TV is very small. The staff are friendly and always helpful, easily five stars for the Star staff.

There were nine of us for the weekend, and the owner, David, took time to show us around the huge property and tell us about the building's history. The downstairs bar had a pool table and darts board and seemed really pleasant. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with such cosy beds. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so nice. We'll be back.
