We booked seven nights from 30/5, but left on Friday. There was nothing new at the showbar, just a repeat of an earlier show, and the entertainment was average and hit and miss. The Trouper Show was repeated twice in a week, with no other bar if you wanted a break from the Happy Campers game show. It seemed the entertainment was aimed at Friday to Monday, with a visiting act only on Saturday. Unless it improves, we won’t return. Check-in was quick, but our caravan was dirty and had several maintenance issues. The manager told us to get food and drink, but said the problems weren’t on them, and that they’d be fixed. After an hour away, maintenance was still trying to fix the door. The kitchen had been cleaned, but belongings from the previous guest were still there. First impressions didn’t seem to matter to the staff. When we went back to reception, we were told the staff had gone home. Lewis, security, was helpful, told us to file a report and come back Monday morning. A lovely woman at reception sorted an upgrade for us on Monday, and we got into the outstanding lodge around 1pm. We enjoyed the rest of our stay.

The caravans are spacious, and we had a really good stay, with three nights still to go. The resort has over 100 caravans, almost like an island of them. We’re staying at Parkdean Resorts, Heysham because friends are here too. The road to reception and the car park is very long, and check-in took a while, but the man who helped us was really kind and used a map to show us how to get to our caravan. The Wi-Fi is a downside. You can connect to Parkdean Free Wifi, but it doesn’t give you internet on the TV. TV access costs £17 for four nights, and they give you a code. Netflix doesn’t work because servers 2 and 3 haven’t connected, and controlling the TV channels is tricky. I brought extra devices and plugged them into the TV easily. I’m good with tech, so I know how to fix things.

We had a lovely, quiet four-night stay in a Willerby Caravan, and I’d definitely recommend it. It was clean and tidy when we arrived, although I spotted a few stains on the bedding of one spare bed. That wasn’t a big issue since I slept in the other spare bed. It’s about a 15-20 minute drive from the seafront, with plenty of fun things for kids. My Nan and I had a great time. The signal wasn’t great, but there was free Wi-Fi when it worked, which was something.

The entertainment was the highlight this year. Freya and Lauren in the Trouper cast have powerful voices and work brilliantly together. It was the best entertainment since we first started coming here. Our first caravan was a bronze two-bed. Both rooms had dirty bed linen, there was a long brown hair on one bed, and rubbish from previous guests under the bed. We paid extra to upgrade to a silver two-bed, which was spacious, lovely and recently refurbished. The double room was large and the beds were very comfortable. The Wi-Fi gets worse each time. It was free and had a great signal across the park when we first came in 2022. In 2023 it was terrible and no longer free, and in 2026 it was worse still. For what the accommodation costs, Wi-Fi should be included and work. Food is mediocre and extortionately priced, though alcohol is reasonably priced depending on what you order.

The caravan was brilliant, but the site felt run down and expensive, so we won’t be back. The clubhouse seemed geared towards children rather than adults. Food and drink prices were extortionate. There’s a lovely pub with food at the end of the road, and the shop was okay. The laundry was dirty and expensive.
