The Auckland Hotel

We stayed for five nights and had no problems at all. The bed was comfortable, the room cosy, and the bathroom lovely and clean. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the menus had good variety, including a vegetarian option every time, which was great. There were plenty of breakfast choices too.

I've stayed two nights this time, and I always come back here. The rooms are first class, right on the prom and handy for town. Staff are pleasant and really helpful, the dinners are great, and breakfast is excellent, cooked to order. I forgot to ask the chef how they make that scrambled egg. Thanks very much, see you again soon.

Thank goodness it was only one night. The shower was a pain to use because the button had to be pulled up with a lot of force, more than I could manage. The bathroom was tiny and unhygienic, with taps that barely reached over the sink, so your hands would touch them while washing. There was a crack in the shower wall and a dead moth in the bathtub. The beds were soft but had a couple of stains. The view outside was okay compared with everything else (picture added). I skipped breakfast, especially as it wasn't included.

We often stay here for a nice getaway. It's in a lovely spot, the rooms have a great view, and everything is spotlessly clean. The staff are fantastic and breakfast is great.
