The Royal Bar & Shaker

We had a fantastic stay in Morecambe with our dog. The place was welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the location was unmatched. Our room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing night. The £10 dog surcharge seemed more than reasonable. Dinner was excellent, generous and great value, and the bar area was stunning, with a lovely atmosphere for sitting and unwinding. Breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked, tasty and very good value, and best of all, it wasn't greasy. It's a shame we were here for my husband's work, or we'd have made a long weekend of it. For us, it was 10/10: great food, a lovely room, a beautiful bar, excellent value and dog-friendly. We'd happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Morecambe.

I had a really good night here after a last-minute drive to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike. I lost track of time watching the sunset and missed my check-in, but the owner made sure a room key was waiting for me when I arrived. The room and bathroom were clean, the shower was great, and I slept well. There were plenty of plugs with USB slots, and the breakfast menu had a good range for different dietary needs.

The Sunday dinner was tasty, nicely presented, and good value, especially with the buy one get one half price offer. I did have two gripes: the roast potatoes came with their skins on, which I found off-putting, and the gravy was a little too watery. Fix those and it’d be 10/10.

The bed was really low, so it might not work for everyone, though I slept very well. The room was modern and comfortable, and breakfast was a lovely full English. Staff were great and very helpful. There’s free parking, and the seafront location is handy, with shops, pubs and restaurants close by.
