Nineteen of us stayed at The Manor House for Granny’s 80th birthday, and it was a perfect place for it. The hosts were super helpful, and you can see they’re working on the building. I’d love to come back in a few years to see it rejuvenated. The grounds are well kept, there’s ample parking, and the area has walks, beaches and coves, something for everyone. It’s a huge, grand old manor, full of history, charm and character. It’s looking a bit worn inside and needs a lot of work on the walls and ceilings, but it was clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious, and the kitchen has loads of equipment for cooking for an army. We loved the big dinner table, and the pool room was great fun. The tennis courts need repairs but were still usable for family fun. If you book The Manor, remember it’s old and historic, and enjoy its homely feel. Laugh, have fun, relax and enjoy life.

We all had a really enjoyable stay in this massive old house, which works well for up to five families. It could use a bit of paint here and there.

The recycling bins really need to be much bigger. They’re nowhere near enough for the number of people in the two houses. We had a lovely sunny afternoon at a nearby ford, just a five-minute walk away. The house also has a huge garden and a tennis court that’s a little tired but fine for knocking a ball around with the kids. Beautiful beaches are close, including Durdle Door and Weymouth if you want sand. It was a beautiful house for a big family holiday and suited our needs well. It was clean and well equipped, and the hosts were friendly. When the dishwasher had an issue, they sorted it straightaway. We hired the hot tub and enjoyed it, and the massive dining table was just what we wanted for eating together.

A practical house for a big family get-together with young children and a dog. It’s a lovely mix of rough and ready and beautiful, and we had a brilliant time. Thank you!

We stayed in the mews annex. The bedroom was warm and comfortable, but the downstairs was cold and the kitchen pretty grubby. The shared bathroom was very cold because the window wouldn’t shut. The bedding and amenities felt like you get what you pay for. This house could be amazing, but the renovation and finish don’t live up to its grandness. Plastic chairs don’t work as bedside tables.
