The Royal Hotel

The generous range of vegetables and four meats made this the best carvery we’ve had, probably. Everyone was friendly, the service was excellent, and it’s dog friendly too. We couldn’t fault it. Would definitely recommend it and come back.

A local lady suggested we eat here, and we were glad we did. We weren’t staying at the hotel. Will and Alisha were welcoming, polite and attentive, and made the evening memorable. The Halloumi and Taramasalata starters with flat bread were delicious. My husband’s sirloin steak and my Thai Green Curry were both beautifully presented and cooked just right. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were five adults and two children, and had a lovely Sunday carvery roast on 2 November. There were plenty of vegetables, lovely roast potatoes, and vegetarian choices too. The tablecloths were white and the staff very friendly. It was the best roast we’d had in a while, and we’ll definitely visit again.

The vegetables were mushy and tasteless, and at £15.95 this was a real disappointment. The beef was bone dry, the stuffing was just wet slop and hadn’t even been in the oven, and the roast potatoes tasted like everyday-value frozen ones. The gravy was right at the start of the serving line, so you had to ask people in the queue to move to reach it. We came today for a family carvery after other people recommended it. Honestly, it was one of the worst I’ve had. We certainly wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t spend your money here.
