We came back twice while staying at the local caravan park, and both meals were lovely. The Sunday carvery had generous portions of meat and loads of vegetables, sauces and gravy to choose from. A couple of days later I had the gammon and my husband chose the steak pie, both were delicious and filling. It’s an easy 10-minute walk through lovely countryside. The staff are warm and friendly, there’s plenty of food and drink at fair prices, and you can sit out at the back or at tables in front. Dogs are welcome, with water and biscuits at the bar. There’s even a basket of games by the fireplace. We had fun playing snakes and ladders 😁. We’ll definitely visit again.

We stumbled across this lovely little place on our old railway walk from York Chaloners Whin Jcn to Riccall along the old EC mainline. It’s a handy stop, about 10 minutes on foot from the railway path. Friendly staff, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. We’d happily recommend it.

We spent a week at York Marina and kept coming back to this pub. Their motto is “Arrive as a stranger. Leave as a friend!” and that was exactly how it felt. Jackie, Laura and Scott gave us such a warm welcome. We tried the Monday to Thursday food deals, which include a drink at a very reasonable price, and also had the Sunday roast. Everything was great, with compliments to chefs Johnno and Paul. Thank you all, see you later 🙏

We tried the Sunday carvery on Sunday 25th Jan 2026 and it was top notch. There was beef, pork, turkey and gammon, plus a great range of veg, Yorkshire puddings and sauces. The team were lovely and friendly, and there’s a good selection at the bar. The midweek menu looks tempting too, so we’ll definitely be back soon 😋.

We went back to book the Sunday carvery after a great Saturday evening meal. Even though we arrived very late, just a few minutes before the last food order, the chef still fitted us in and made me a delicious curry and my husband tasty fish and chips. The carvery was absolutely delicious too, with a good choice of meats, plenty of vegetables and trimmings, all hot and well presented. The chef was friendly.
