The low price is about the only thing in its favour. We booked for five, but the sofa bed wasn't made up and there was no bedding for it, so at 10pm we had to go out and buy some. Flat 3 was in poor repair throughout. The carpets had come loose from the grippers, and one of us tripped on a raised edge. A chair was missing a bolt and felt unsafe, while the other chairs needed tightening. The freezer was packed with ice, the fridge barely cooled even at maximum, and I couldn't get the heating to work on boost. The old mattresses sagged in the middle and brought back my back problems. For this quality, it ought to cost half as much.

Please don't stay here. The bedding and pillows were mouldy. My daughter has asthma, so she had to sleep in my husband's twin bed, and he ended up on the settee. The shower wasn't clean, the carpets were pulling away from the gripper rods, and the dining chairs were falling apart. I raised it with Appleton apartments but heard nothing back. Booking.com contacted them and relayed messages to me, though the apartments never got in touch directly. Places like this should be removed from Booking.com until they make the necessary repairs.

Flat 3 needs proper attention. The shower was broken and had scum on both surfaces, and the place wasn't clean around the skirting boards. Some bulbs were out, and the top light on the standing lamp was broken with wires exposed. The carpet was lifting from the grippers, and the heater thermostat wasn't working properly. It could use fresh paint and proper sealing.

Had a lovely three-night break here. The apartment was spotless and good value, with a well-equipped, roomy kitchen and dining space. We slept comfortably, and the shower was great. The town is only about five minutes away. I'd happily recommend it and come back!

I only got a short stay, which was a shame. For £125, we had a two-bedroom apartment with five spacious beds, and it was clean inside and out. It's about five minutes from the city centre. I'd pick this place again whenever I'm back, and really wish I'd stayed longer. 10 out of 10.
