Ashiana Hotel

A convenient stop by the roadside on the way north. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the food was good.

The staff deserve top marks. I was arriving very late and they were happy to help, and I expect to be back in the area for work, so I’ll definitely look to stay here again. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. This is more of a motel, with 10 adjoining rooms in a separate building from the restaurant. Each has its own front door and parking right outside. Mine had no outside light, so finding the right room in the dark was a bit tricky at first. There were two comfy double beds, more than enough for one person, a small couch and a big bathroom with a walk-in shower. The TV wasn’t set up, and its remote was broken. I bought batteries, but that wasn’t the problem. I managed to programme the TV and change channels manually. It didn’t bother me because I was working long hours and had little time or interest in watching, though I can see how it might trouble someone else.

We eventually left and booked into the other hotel too, after they found a room there for our friends. We’d booked two rooms for four adults, but when my wife and I arrived first to check in, we found the place was overbooked and they wanted to put us all in one room with two double beds. We tried asking four different staff members how that had happened, but no one could explain. The two men we spoke to were extremely rude and didn’t seem interested. We’d never book here again.

The Indian food was fantastic, and it was great value for the money. The rooms were clean, though they looked a little tired. When we arrived at 3pm, the place was locked up and we struggled to find anyone.
